Legacy: 2-Digit Rating

Is the legacy 1.0 to 5.0 rating system in .5 increments.

New: 4-Digit Rating

Ratings range from 1.000 to 6.999 in .001 increments. The new ratings are based on an ELO rating system (the same system used for chess named after its creator Arpad Elo, a Hungarian-American physics professor).

Ratings are used primarily to match players in league or tournament play. Even if you don’t play in tournaments it is useful to know your rating. Knowing your rating will let you speak knowledgeable about your game, find players with whom you are equally matched, and helps you improve your game by showing you what skills to improve.

This new system is more dynamic. Players’ ratings change after each game based on the outcome and the rating of both players.

Why should I be 4-Digit Rated?

2-Digit is a legacy system.

4-Digit is the new rating system recognized by the PPA and growing community of Pickleball globally.

Allows you to find and message like skilled 4D players locally, nationally and internationally.

Advanced analytics featuring win-loss record, longest win streak, ratings history, singles & doubles, partner analysis, and results analysis.

Gives you the ability to play in verified rating sanctioned leagues and tournaments - results count towards verified ratings.

Pickles has gained approval in NE (6 states) for hosting 4 digit sanctioned leagues, clinics and tournaments.

Through our new pioneering: 2 Phased “Hi-Touch + Hi-Tech” Pickleball Rating Program, we offer players a unique opportunity to have their rating verified and recorded against “like players”.

Phase One: “Hi-Touch”

Is comprised of a two categories: certified instructor lead evaluation and self-rating to establish a baseline.

Phase Two: “Hi-Tech”

Is a dynamic “live-rating” allowing players’ ratings to change after each game based on the outcome and the rating of both players. Logged matches, will prompt opponent to verify scores. This ongoing competitive analysis algorithm provides accuracy, transparency, and adaptability.
